Timberwolf PIREP Air Rally hosted by Steve 5 Pilots started and finished the excursion. Due to the timed nature of the flight, we were all kept pretty busy navigating, so there isn't much of a story to tell. We all went off in different directions according to our personal flight plan. Most of the airstrips in the area are grass strips and there was no special scenery for this flight so they pretty much all look alike. Some were way too short - I think I heard them described as elongated Helipads. A very apt description! At some point in the flight, we all flew beneath the famous St. Louis Arch (it was worth 20 pts). I was moving pretty good and had to cut the final approach tight which had me at a 45* bank. It was a timed event and we are all within a minute of each other in arriving. Steve and I got close enough that he heard my engines in his cockpit. A final shot of the participants. A final tally of points: Steve - 100+ pts. (None of us remember the exact figure, but he was so far ahead it made little difference) Robert - 86 pts. George - 82 pts. Dave - 76 pts. Troph - 54 pts. Well done Steve, it was such a challange that I think Dave only opened one bottle of beer. (And I think that one got warm before he had the time to finish it!) It is also noteworthy, that this is Steve's second flight in a row (2 weeks back to back) and we appreaciate that he was able to have such a short turn around time between flights. Cheers, Robert
